Watch your favourite movies in Budapest’s iconic thermal bath this summer

From July onwards, Budapest’s renowned thermal baths are set to offer a refreshing and culturally rich summer experience, combining relaxation with entertainment.

As the school summer holidays begin, the city’s spas will welcome visitors with a variety of programmes, including the much-anticipated Cinema Spa film screenings at the iconic SzĂ©chenyi Thermal Bath.

According to Helló Magyar and Kultúra.hu, every Tuesday evening in July, the outdoor experience pool at Széchenyi will transform into an open-air cinema, starting at 9 pm.

This CineSpa – Filmekbe merĂĽlve (Immersed in Films) series will feature a selection of beloved films such as A Star is Born on July 1, The Greatest Showman on July 8, Pulp Fiction on July 15, and Snatch on July 29. Budapest residents holding a local address card can enjoy a 50% discount on entry from 9 pm, making this a perfect blend of cultural indulgence and aquatic leisure.

In addition to the cinematic offerings, Budapest’s baths will extend their opening hours throughout July, with at least one bath open until 10 pm daily. This initiative, approved by the Budapest City Council, aims to provide more flexible and enjoyable bathing experiences during the summer months.

The Rudas Bath will also introduce a new timed ticket system to reduce waiting times during peak periods, allowing guests to enter swiftly at their chosen time slot.

The summer programme includes other engaging events such as the Night of the Beaches on July 26 at the Pesterzsébet Bath, featuring a full day of colourful activities.

Moreover, the traditional National Water Pistol Fight will take place on August 23 at the Palatinus Bath on Margaret Island, a highlight for families and young visitors alike.

For those seeking spectacular views, the Csillaghegyi Bath’s Panorama Pool offers breathtaking sights over Ă“buda, the Buda Hills, and Pest. The Rudas Bath rooftop also provides a prime vantage point for watching Budapest’s August 20 fireworks along the Danube.

Health-conscious visitors will appreciate the free dermatological screenings available at several baths, including Csillaghegyi, Palatinus, and Pesterzsébet, addressing concerns related to strong UV radiation during the summer.

This summer, Budapest’s thermal baths promise not only relaxation and wellness but also unique cultural and community experiences, making them an unmissable destination for locals and tourists alike.
