Granny’s garden fence killed a young Hungarian woman – additional tragic details

A young Hungarian woman, visiting Tapolca from abroad, tried to take a shortcut home from the train station to her grandmother’s house. That’s when the fatal accident occurred.

Protruding wire claims life of young Hungarian woman

According to neighbours, the young woman attempted to climb over an old-style fence but became caught on a protruding wire that tragically sliced through her femoral artery. She managed to crawl for a short distance before collapsing on the grass. Weakening from blood loss, she dialed emergency services.

But that’s when the true tragedy struck: somehow, she gave the wrong address, and paramedics couldn’t find her. According to the National Ambulance Service, first responders searched the area extensively, repeatedly called the number from which the emergency call was made, but received no answer. It’s likely that the young woman lost consciousness shortly after making the call and was unable to respond. It remains unclear how long it took for the ambulance to arrive. “By the time she was eventually found in a secluded back area, it was sadly too late to save her,” reported the ambulance service.

Neighbours expressed frustration over the fact that no one heard or saw anything, as the incident occurred in a remote area next to a dirt road. The young woman’s presence wasn’t discovered until the ambulance service finally arrived.

The grandmother and the family are in a state of shock. Police are investigating the heartbreaking and inexplicable tragedy, according to veol.hu.

The victim held dual Swiss-Hungarian citizenship and had been living in Germany. This was her first visit to Hungary.
