World’s top airline returns to Budapest Airport

A Chinese airline will return to Budapest Airport, Hungary’s main airgate, soon.
Top airline flies back
According to Budflyer, a Hungarian travel news Facebook page, Hainan Airlines will return to Budapest Airport soon. The deputy director of the Chinese Civil Aviation Authority announced the decision recently. According to him, Hainan Airlines Global will operate two flights weekly from 21 June between Shenzhen and Budapest.
Shenzhen is the third most popular Chinese city behind Shanghai and Beijing. Hainan Airlines has the world’s 4th largest fleet.
Budflyer wrote that the new flight might appear in the Chinese airline’s booking system in days.
Lots of flights to China
The first plane of Shanghai Airlines between Xi’an and Budapest will take off in June. The two cities will be connected once a week. China Southern Airlines will begin its non-stop Guangzhou-Budapest route on 27 June.
As a result, we can say China will be much closer to Hungary than, for example, the United States of America. Now, there is no direct flight between the Hungarian capital and the American continent.

No chance for flights to America
The problem is probably the tense political relationship between the Hungarian and the Washington administrations. The November presidential elections might bring a change in that matter.
US Ambassador David Pressman regularly slams the Hungarian government for being pro-Russian and anti-Ukraine. Meanwhile, the Orbán cabinet highlighted they were only against NATO and EU weapons and ammunition supply, and for the start of peace negotiations with Russia.

Recently, it became apparent that the Hungarian foreign ministry was compromised several times by successful Russian cyberattacks before 2022. On the question of 444.hu whether the information the Russian hackers stole from the Hungarian foreign ministry helped them to initiate their full-scale invasion of Ukraine, FM SzijjártĂł’s response was something unexpected. He said the reporter’s question was beyond the “credibility limit”.
