World Prematurity Day 2020: Iconic Hungarian buildings wear purple – PHOTOS

World Prematurity Day is observed every year on November 17 to raise awareness of the challenges of preterm birth. It has been celebrated since 2011.

Approximately 15 million babies are born preterm each year, accounting for about one in 10 of all babies born worldwide. Babies who are born before the 37th week of gestation are called premature babies or preemies. Premature birth is the leading cause of death in children under the age of five.

 Purple is the official color for World Prematurity Day, so iconic Hungarian buildings wear purple:
