Wizz Air boasts lowest emissions rate among major airlines

Wizz Air’s carbon emissions per passenger kilometre are the lowest among all of the world’s major airlines, according to a ranking by Cirium, the Hungarian carrier said on Monday.
Wizz Air said its C02 emissions per passenger kilometre reached 52.2g in the 2025 business year. Over two-thirds of Wizz Air‘s fleet have the latest generation, fuel-efficient Pratt and Whitney GTF engines, ensuring a 20% reduction in fuel consumption compared to earlier generation aircraft engines, it added.
By 2030, Wizz Air targets sustainable aviation fuel on 10% of its flights. Wizz Air carried 63.4 million passengers in its business year ended March 31.
