Warning! Air quality deteriorating in several Hungarian cities

Air quality is deteriorating in several Hungarian towns and cities, reaching hazardous levels in two towns due to a high concentration of PM2.5 airborne particles, the National Public Health Centre (NNK) said on Sunday.

The air quality in Putnok and Sajószentpéter has deteriorated to “hazardous” levels and is classified as “unhealthy” in Miskolc and Kazincbarcika, NNK said.

Concentrations of particulate matter are also considered to be too high in Budapest, Dorog, Esztergom, Győr, Hernadszurdok, Nyíregyháza, Oszlár, Szeged, Székesfehérvár, Szolnok, Tatabánya, Tököl, Vác, and Várpalota.

NNK said Sunday’s rainy weather, however, was expected to improve the air quality in these places.
