Good news for motorists in Hungary: vignette prices will decrease thanks to modification

A decision to prohibit convenience charges for purchases of motorway vignettes could save motorists HUF 2bn (EUR 5 million) a year, Károly Balázs Solymár, a state secretary at the Energy Ministry, said on public television on Wednesday.

The measure, in force from September, will eliminate convenience charges currently applied by around 60pc of online resellers, Solymár told news channel M1. About 5 million motorway vignettes are sold in Hungary each year. Convenience charges for online purchases average HUF 400.
