No more Budapest tour boats but here is the replacement

The scheduled service of the Budapest Transport Company in the Hungarian capital will be discontinued.

The BKV boat will cease to operate

Budapest is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The Danube River, which bisects the Hungarian capital, is a great tourist destination, and taking the tour boats of the Budapest Transport Company (BKV) allows you to admire it in all its splendour.

However, BKV’s boats will not be running this year, citing a lack of funds. The project, which was set up in 2013 with EU funding, has been loss-making since its inception.

Other available options

Napi.hu looked at what other options are available after the termination of the BKV boat services. The Swiss and Hungarian state-owned Mahart has launched cruises on the capital’s stretch of the Danube. The stops include Vigadó Square, the Parliament, Batthyányi Square and the National Theatre. An adult day ticket costs HUF 1,500 (EUR 3,98).
