Terror suspect in Romania: the Hungarian government requests further information

Jobbik party considers the Romanian authorities’ action against the Transylvanian leaders of the Sixty-Four Counties Youth Movement (HVIM) anti-Hungarian. The leaders have been arrested on suspicion of terrorism at the end of last year. The Romanian ambassador did not attend the meeting of the Parliamentary Special Committee, hirtv.hu wrote.
The Romanian prosecutor’s office against terrorism arrested many Transylvanian leaders of HVIM – which can be linked to the Hungarian party Jobbik – in December. The office states that according to an intercepted telephone conversation they wanted to blow up bombs in Szekelyfold/Seklerland on December 1, at the anniversary of the annexation of Transylvania.
The case was discussed by the parliamentary committee of national belonging on the initiative of Jobbik.
According to hirtv.hu, the committee interviewed the representatives of the Foreign Ministry and the intelligence. The State Secretary said that the will to cooperate could use some improvement on the Romanian side, to improve the relation of the two countries.
Levente Magyar said that these issues will stay on agenda until Hungary sees any real evidence. He added that the government requests information and handles the case in the spirit of good neighborhood.
