It looks like Viktor Orbán, the Hungarian Prime Minister works in Switzerland. At least, according to a registration that was made using his name and date of birth.
Orbán wants to work in Switzerland – and no one suspects it, the Swiss SRF.ch published an article with this title. They believe this incident shows the weaknesses of the EU employee database. Is it really that easy to misuse the system?
Viktor Orbán as plasterer in Switzerland
According to the registration, a man named Viktor Orbán works as a plasterer in Switzerland. – reports nepszava.hu. Someone registered in the database of EU employees under the name Viktor Orbán, with a date of birth of May 31, 1963. -writes rtl.hu. The Hungarian Prime Minister was also born on this day. The data can be clearly seen on the registration certificate received from the Zurich labor office, which is required for EU citizens to work for Swiss employers. Criminal complaint against the prime minister
Although it is unknown why this has happened, a lawyer suspects that the story may have something to do with dirty financial deals. Therefore, he filed a criminal complaint against Viktor Orbán – the prime minister. According to the Zurich prosecutor’s office, “the circumstances presented by the complainant are indeed strange, if not suspicious”. However, they did not launch an investigation. The Zurich prosecutor’s office says the conditions for initiating criminal proceedings are not fulfilled. They found no obvious connection between Orbán’s registration as a plasterer and his financial transactions.
Swiss man: “It was a joke.”

However, they are grateful to him at the Unia trade union. According to Bruna Campanello, the organisation’s representative, the case shows that the database needs to be improved so that such cases cannot happen again. “If the data is not correct or cannot be verified, there is a very high risk of misuse.” The database is not only important for those who want to work in Switzerland but also because the database helps to check whether workers from the EU are not being paid too little. According to Campanello, this database is crucial.
