Six Hungarian universities among the world’s top 1000

The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) has released their annual list of the top 1000 universities in the world. Six Hungarian universities are among the very best out of 25,000+ institutions of higher education, nlcafe.hu reports.
The CWUR ranks the world’s universities using 8 indicators: quality of education, alumni employment, quality of faculty, publications, influence, citations, broad impact, and the number of patents.
Among Hungarian universities, Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) has the highest ranking on the list, at 488th place, thus also receiving No.1 ranking in the country. ELTE also excels in terms of the quality of education, in which category it came 95th. The quality of the faculty, measured by the international recognition the academics of the university have received, is the 117th best in the world, while based on the number of highly-cited publications, the university ranks at 268th place.
The list contains another five Hungarian universities: Semmelweis University at 631th place, the University of Debrecen at 661th place, the University of Szeged at 708th place, the Budapest University of Technology and Economics at 850th place, and the University of Pécs at 877th place.
According to the CWUR, the world’s best universities are Harvard University, Stanford University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the USA, followed by the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford in the UK.
