Road renovations set to start in Hungary on over 550 km

The state secretary for transportation announced the start of renovation of over 550km of secondary roads in Hungary, supported by European Union funding, at a press conference in Mihályfa (Western Hungary) on Wednesday.

Bálint Nagy, who also represents the local district in parliament, said road upgrades served to strengthen the economy, boost mobility and support rural convergence.

József Attila Szilvai, who heads road company Magyar Közút, said the upgrades were funded from HUF 140bn in EU support and HUF 16bn in national resources.
