PREVIEW – Parliament to meet twice this week

Budapest, March 28 (MTI) – Parliament will meet on two days this week with final votes scheduled on amendments to the laws on building societies, the central budget and the upgrade of the Paks nuclear power plant.

A plenary session will begin on Tuesday at 1pm with interpellations and a question and answer session. Afterwards, lawmakers will debate parliamentary committee proposals for law amendments to be voted on the next day.

On Wednesday, lawmakers are scheduled to hold a final vote on amendments to the recently adopted building societies law which the president sent back to parliament last week.

A vote is also scheduled on a bill submitted by government office chief János Lázár, which would allow the government to take decisions on funding for “priority public tasks”, even if the necessary budget appropriations can be ensured only at a later time.

Lawmakers are scheduled to vote on a proposed amendment to the Paks upgrade law in connection with the release of data in the public interest.

The schedule for the day also includes a general debate on new bills concerning defence purchases, justice experts and foreign missions.
