Police arrest man suspected of rape, child pornography

The National Bureau of Investigation of Hungary’s Rapid Response Police (KR NNI) has arrested a 19-year-old man suspected of raping his niece and making pornographic pictures of the child.

The Bureau said on the police’s official website on Tuesday that it had been alerted by the US National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which led to the identification and eventually arrest of a man living in Nagykáta, in central Hungary, suspected of having raped his niece between 2021 and 2023. He also made photographs of her amounting to child pornography, police.hu said.

The man was arrested on Feb 18 in a raid covering several locations, evidence was gathered from a computer and other devices, and he has been questioned. A court has approved his pre-trial detention. The victim is safe within her family, the statement said.
