PHOTOS: New Budapest Airport shuttle buses to serve passengers from June

Budapest’s mayor, Gergely Karácsony, said that despite the harsh economic situation and the government’s anti-Budapest policies, he would never give up development. Therefore, they bought 150 new buses, which will serve on multiple lines, including the one leading to the Ferenc Liszt International Airport.

According to a post shared on the mayor’s Facebook page, the number 150 is symbolic since Budapest celebrates its 150th birthday today (the three segments, Buda, Pest and Óbuda, united in 1873). Mr Karácsony hopes the new buses will serve the passengers well and will provide a higher-level quality service. The vehicles will arrive in Budapest between May and July. All of them will have an air-conditioning system, be environment-friendly and have low floors.

BKK said they will be MAN Lion buses and will serve passengers in longer distances in the North Buda, North Pest and Northeast Pest directions. Furthermore, they will also commute on the 100E airport shuttle line. BKK added that the number of seats would be 10 percent more on these buses. According to bkk.hu, the 100E line will receive these new buses from 17 June. The owner and operator of the buses will be ArrivaBus Ltd.

Important development starts at Budapest Airport

Belgian-Hungarian WLP (Weerts Logistics Park) and RaktárAD will build a 241 thousand sqm logistics base near Vecsés, near the international airport. The project’s costs reach EUR 175 million, airportal.hu wrote. Based on the plans, there will be enough place for large logistics companies and SMEs.
