Hungarian pensioners to get EUR 75 food vouchers months before the 2026 elections

The government has issued a decree on food vouchers for pensioners, to be delivered by post by 15 October, the government communications centre (KTK) said on Monday.

The 30,000 forint (EUR 75) vouchers can be used to buy food by the end of the year, KTK said. All those receiving pensions due to their age or disability will be eligible, and the payment will also be available to widows and orphans, the statement said.

The vouchers cannot be used in restaurants, the statement said.
