Opposition PM lawmaker wants Kover’s dismissal over journalist ban

Budapest, May 9 (MTI) – Out of protest for journalists banned from Parliament building for asking questions in outlawed places, opposition PM lawmaker Tímea Szabó said she would not stand up at the start of sessions as usual.
Szabó told a press conference on Monday that Speaker of Parliament László Kövér should be made to resign as speaker over the ban.
Kövér barred journalists of daily Népszabadság, weekly HVG, online newspapers 24.hu and index.hu because they had put questions to politicians in areas in parliament which are off-limits to journalists under house rules brought about by Kövér. Szabó said she thought it was “absurd” that asking questions was limited to a total space of about 60 square meters inside Parliament.
