Orbán government launches fourth round of EU-funded employee training subsidy scheme
The government is launching a HUF 15bn subsidy scheme from March, the fourth phase of a larger project to support employee training at small and medium-sized companies from European Union funding, the National Economy Ministry and the Culture and Innovation Ministry said on Wednesday.

The HUF 70bn project launched in 2021 was aimed to support competence development and training to help workers adapt flexibly to structural changes, technological development and changing labour market needs and to improve productivity. In the first three phases, subsidies of more than HUF 23bn were allocated, of which businesses spent HUF 13bn directly on employee training and the remaining amount on wages for the working hours lost during training.
In the fourth round, the range of those eligible will be expanded, eligible training hourly fees will increase, and the maximum support amount for micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises will rise to HUF 100m from HUF 75m.
