The Governor of the Hungarian National Bank inaugurated a miracle stag statue

A statue of the miracle stag, an important symbol of Hungarian folklore, was inaugurated at the Hungarian office of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) in Budapest on Sunday.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mihály Varga, the central bank governor, noted that Hungarians arriving from Asia had brought the symbol with them during the conquest of the Carpathian Basin and called the miracle stag a “bridge” between Asia and Europe that was part of the country’s cultural heritage and identity.
The statue is the work of the sculptor Sándor Győrfi. Hungary has observer status in the OTS whose members are Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye and Uzbekistan.
