Ministers discuss Hungarian-Romanian transport links

Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó held talks about transport links between Hungary and Romania with Romanian Minister of Transport Lucian Sova in Budapest on Tuesday, the ministry said.
Considering the very close economic ties between Hungary and Romania, it is in both countries’ interest to develop as many transport links as possible, the statement said.
The second motorway link will be completed by 2020 and it will connect the northern Transylvanian motorway with Hungary’s M4 highway, which is currently under construction.
Of ten border crossings that are open only on weekends, two will be made permanent in the near future.
Both countries aim to get Romania connected to the European high-speed railway network as soon as possible.
Szijjártó told Sova that the Hungarian government has allocated one billion forints (EUR 3.2m) for preparing a feasibility study on a high-speed railway link between Budapest and Kolozsvár (Cluj-Napoca).
