Tisza head Péter Magyar informed Manfred Weber about his party’s position on fast-tracking Ukraine’s EU accession

Contrary to the “lies” by ruling Fidesz, Hungary’s opposition Tisza Party does not support Ukraine’s fast-track European Union entry, Tisza leader Péter Magyar has informed Manfred Weber, leader of the European People’s Party.
According to a Facebook post, Magyar also told Weber that once Ukraine’s accession talks with the EU were concluded, Tisza would initiate a binding referendum on the subject in Hungary. The EPP has acknowledged Tisza’s position, Magyar said in his post.
During his talks with Weber, Magyar said his party supported the independence of the judiciary and the media, and it was committed to eliminating corruption and to Hungary joining the European Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Magyar also said his party would stay away from a European parliamentary vote on a report concerning the rule of law in Hungary later on Wednesday, because “the rule of law in Hungary will not be restored through ideological debates or the umpteenth EP resolution but by Hungarian voters no later than in 298 days.”
Magyar did not share photos or videos about meeting talk with Weber.
