LMP warns of ‘leadership, political crisis’

Hungary has a “serious leadership and political crisis”, opposition LMP said on Monday, and slammed the government for “brutal austerity, destroying municipalities, and taking insufficient economic measures”.

LMP group leader László Lóránt Keresztes told an online press conference that the government’s “false” European Union policy was causing huge damage, adding that the ruling parties had reached a “moral nadir”.

The government’s policies are “not governed by Christian principles”, he insisted, and argued that a recent, “disgusting” article by the head of the Petőfi Literary Museum had “no consequences whatever”. He added that

the government’s reactions concerning the recent resignation of Fidesz MEP József Szájer were “false and hypocritical”.

According to Keresztes, the government is “lying” in saying that Brussels is trying to exert pressure on Hungary because of the government’s anti-migration policies.
