International Chamber Music Festival to be held in Budapest

The New Millennium International Chamber Music Festival, to be held for the fourth time from August 25 to 30 in Budapest, will feature premieres and international collaborations in a series of programmes curated by violinist Miranda Liu and the V4 String Quartet which comprises musicians from Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia.

The quartet will make its debut at the House of Music Hungary, presenting new works written for the ensemble, the organisers said in a statement on Sunday.

Other concerts will be held at the Old Music Academy on Vörösmarty Street in Budapest and at the Festetics Palace.

The quartet’s chief mission is to present music from the past and present from Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Czechia at festivals in the region and around Europe. In addition to Antonín Dvorak’s final string quartet, they will play works dedicated to the quartet by Jiri Kabat (Czechia), Kuba Krzewinski (Poland), Iris Szeghy (Slovakia) and Gergely Vajda (Hungary).
