Hungary could produce Sinopharm vaccines domestically thanks to new agreement

The Hungarian foreign ministry has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Sinopharm-CNBG, on creating the infrastructure for manufacturing the Sinopharm vaccine in Hungary within ten months, a state secretary of the ministry said on Friday.
TamΓ‘s Menczer signed the document with Jiang Xiuchang and Peng Xiao, CEO of Sinopharm’s partner in the United Arab Emirates.
“With our partners in China and the UAE are constantly researching new mutations of the virus, and work on developing the most effective vaccines, the cooperation gives access to Hungary to new information and provides an opportunity to react quickly and effectively,” Menczer said in a post on Facebook.

The vaccine is the only weapon against the virus, Menczer said.

Hungary has just recently layed down the cornerstone of its own vaccine facility in Debrecen which will start turning out doses at the end of next year, LΓ‘szlΓ³ Palkovics, the innovation and technology minister said during the event. More than 20 million vaccines will be produced at the plant located at the University of Debrecenβs innovation park each year using various technologies, he said.

These mandatory Hungarian vaccines may promote immunity against COVID-19
The plant will ensure a stable and sustainable supply of vaccines for the home market for protection against any future pandemics or local epidemics, he said, adding that the development will also create jobs.
If necessary, the plant can be expanded and adapted for the production of various other vaccines, he added.
