A Hungarian man faces attempted murder charges after a drunken dispute escalated into a terrifying chainsaw assault in a quiet Hungarian village.
The employer denied alcohol from the Hungarian man
According to a statement from The Prosecution Service of Hungary, a Hungarian man has been charged with attempted premeditated murder following a brutal chainsaw attack on an acquaintance in Szigetszentmárton, Pest County. According to the indictment, the accused had previously carried out gardening work for the victim in exchange for alcohol and money. However, their relationship soured when the victim claimed the man was not working properly, resulting in him being denied alcohol and banned from the property. This led to mounting tensions, culminating in the Hungarian man threatening to cut the victim in half with a chainsaw.
Serious injuries
In July 2023, the victim encountered the accused again, who was reportedly heavily intoxicated. An argument broke out, during which the Hungarian man once again threatened violence. Shortly afterwards, he returned to the victim’s property with a petrol chainsaw. As the victim sat on the terrace with his daughter and her friend, the man stormed in, revved the chainsaw, and attempted to attack him. Despite trying to defend himself with a plastic chair and a beach towel, both of which were destroyed by the saw, the victim suffered serious injuries, including an amputated hand and leg wounds.
Facing legal consequences
In a desperate bid for survival, the victim struck the chainsaw with a mop handle, breaking the chain and disabling the weapon. He then managed to push the attacker off the property. A neighbour, who witnessed the violent scene, promptly alerted the police. The victim was left with lacerations and fractures, while the Hungarian man now faces serious legal consequences as he stands charged with attempted premeditated murder.
