Hungarian, Lithuanian foreign affairs cttee heads discuss Baltic-V4 cooperation

Budapest lith(MTI) – Cooperation between the Baltic countries and the Visegrad Four grouping needs to be enhanced, Hungary’s and Lithuania’s foreign affairs committee heads said after talks in Budapest on Thursday.

Hungary’s Zsolt Németh told a press conference that on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Hungary establishing diplomatic relations with the Baltic states he also met Latvian and Estonian politicians.

Hungary fully supports the Baltic states’ call for strengthening NATO’s military support and added that he assured his negotiating partners of Hungary’s solidarity in connection with fears of Russian military aggression. There is full consensus between Hungary and Lithuania in connection with the handling of the migrant crisis, he added.

Lithuania’s Benediktas Juodka said cooperation between the Baltic states and the V4 should be tightened also in order to be able to act jointly in the European Council.

Lithuania plans to deepen cooperation with Hungary in cyber security, scientific research, innovation and higher education, he added.
