Hungarian government to up GP practices financing by over 400 euros

The government will increase the financing for general practitioners by a monthly 130,000 forints (EUR 421) both this year, starting on June 1, and in 2018, the state secretary for health care said on Thursday.
Zoltán Ónodi-Szűcs said that next year’s increase will come into effect on March 1.
Bence Rétvári, state secretary at the human resources ministry, said that supporting general practitioners was a top priority for the government, and noted that their practices have now received the same, 130,000 forints increase for the fourth year.
Back in 2010, the annual financing for a family physician’s practice, covering wages and utilities, was 10.5 million forints on average. By now, that amount has increased to 16.2 million forints due to the extra financing, Rétvári said.
