Fidesz parliamentary group leader sent harsh message to German Antifa activists

The foreign anti-fascist protesters who gathered in front of a Budapest courthouse demanding the release of German Antifa activist Maja T “are supporting violence and bloodshed and defending criminals”, the parliamentary group leader of ruling Fidesz said on Friday.
Máté Kocsis said in a post on Facebook that after a group of foreign “communist antifa activists” assaulted people on the streets of Budapest in 2023, “they returned home without facing the consequences”.
He said one Italian activist, Ilaria Salis, had become an MEP and was now “evading justice by hiding behind her immunity” while two others were “making a scene in court”. Kocsis said the protesters in front of the courthouse who were urging Germany not to extradite Maja T to Hungary were “defending criminals”.

“If someone beats another person to a bloody pulp on the street, they have to stand trial,” Kocsis said. “Our message to the foreign extremists is that this is how it’s done here,” he said, adding that the case needed to have consequences in Hungary. Kocsis said Hungary continued to insist that the German authorities hand over the other activists on trial to Hungary.
