Half of Budapest to be closed for traffic next Tuesday and Wednesday

Budapest will host an informal summit of the Organisation of Turkic States on May 20-21, the prime minister’s communications department told MTI on Friday.

The event will be attended by the presidents of Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan as well as the secretary general of the Organisation of Turkic States at the invitation of the Hungarian prime miniser, the department said.

The summit’s aim is for Hungary to strengthen its role of mediator between East and West and to serve as a platform for the representatives of member states to define future strategic directions for the organisation.

It reflects Hungary’s increasing importance that it will host a summit in capacity of an observer state for the first time in the history of the Organisation of Turkic States, said the department.
