Government to allocate further EUR 19m to road renovation

Budapest (MTI) – The government will allocate an additional 6 billion forints (EUR 19m) to public road infrastructure development, maintenance and renovation up until 2020, a resolution published in the latest issue of the official gazette Magyar Kozlony shows.
The resolution states that from 2016, road operation and maintenance duties are to be carried out by Magyar Kozut on the basis of a five-year public utility contract in order to ensure the stable and predictable management of Hungary’s road infrastructure.
The government has therefore called on the economy and development ministers to allocate 73.2 billion forints in 2017, 80.5 million forints in 2018, 88.8 billion forints in 2019 and 98.08 billion forints in 2020 toward road infrastructure management.
The resolution also states that ministers are to put together a programme for financing the renovation of national main and secondary road networks by February 28, 2016.
