Government declares state of crisis for total of six counties

Budapest, September 18 (MTI) – The government has declared a state of crisis for Zala and Vas counties in western Hungary and Baranya and Somogy counties in south-western Hungary, the latest issue of the official gazette Magyar Kozlony reported.

The measure took effect at 8.00am on Friday and will remain in effect until March 18, 2016 at the latest.

Hungary has now declared a state of crisis in a total of six counties.

Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto announced on Thursday evening that the state of crisis would be extended to Baranya and Somogy counties because Croatia’s immigration system “collapsed within a single day”.

The state of crisis for Bacs-Kiskun and Csongrad counties took effect on Tuesday.
