The First Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) Graduation Ceremony Successfully Held in Budapest, Hungary

A milestone graduation ceremony was held yesterday at the Embassy of Canada in Hungary. Families, friends, and guests from both the local community and around the globe gathered to witness the proud moment as the first cohort of graduates from the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) program stepped into a new chapter of their lives.
Initiated by PGLC Academy, the graduation ceremony received generous support from the Embassy of Canada in Hungary. Distinguished guests in attendance included His Excellency François Lafrenière, Ambassador of Canada to Hungary, Slovenia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina; Mr. Francis Uy, Counsellor and Senior Trade Commissioner; and Ms. Zsuzsanna Kovács-Mátyus, Trade Commissioner. Their presence underscored the Embassy’s commitment to fostering multi-dimensional exchanges between Canada and Hungary.

The event began with a touching slideshow capturing students’ school life and memories, followed by a warm welcome speech delivered by Mr. Robert Zou, the founder of the PGLC Academy. Mr. Francis Uy, then was invited to be on stage to deliver an inspiring address, filled with blessings and encouragement for the graduates.

Student representatives then shared heartfelt reflections on their growth and achievements throughout the OSSD program, expressing gratitude to their teachers, families, and classmates while looking forward to the journey ahead.
During the solemn diploma conferral and tassel-turning ceremony, graduates took the stage one by one, receiving their diplomas amid applause and cheers. Each student then presented a rose to their mother, filling the venue with warmth and love.

Teacher representatives delivered moving speeches and presented students with specially prepared gift boxes as tokens of good wishes and encouragement.

In the closing speech, Ms. Hanjing Lai, co-founder of PGLC, reflected on the journeys the students had taken over the years and encouraged them to move forward with courage and dreams. The event concluded with group photos and a tea reception, allowing guests to cherish and celebrate this unforgettable moment.





The success of the ceremony was made possible through the collaborative efforts of many. With generous support from the Embassy of Canada in Hungary, and special thanks to The Box Donuts (Hungary), whose specially designed graduation-themed donuts added a delightful and memorable touch to the celebration.

The OSSD program provided students with a well-rounded, globally recognized education that nurtured critical thinking, independence, and academic excellence. The graduation is not an end, but marks a new beginning—empowering young minds to step confidently onto the global stage with knowledge, gratitude, and inspiration.
