DK calls for probe into Roszke station clashes

Budapest, October 5 (MTI) – Lawmakers of the leftist opposition Democratic Coalition (DK) have asked for a parliamentary investigative committee to be set up to look into last month’s clashes between migrants and police on the Hungarian-Serbian border near Roszke.
Agnes Vadai said fresh accounts by reporters indicate that members of Hungary’s counter terrorism force TEK “brutally assaulted migrants and reporters” at the scene “without reason and without warning”.
Vadai said DK wants to know whose decision it was to deploy TEK and “provoke conflict by having innocents beaten up”. She said the investigation should also be carried out in order to prevent putting Hungarian police in harm’s way “for political reasons”.
