Did Hungarian border protection set an example for other countries?

Hungarian border protection measures have set an example to several countries in recent times, with Greece, Spain, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and Poland all deciding to build border fences, the government spokesperson said near the Hercegszántó border crossing on Friday.

Alexandra Szentkirályi said recent years had shown decisively that physical border barriers and fences were the most successful form of border protection.

A position which Hungary represented alone in Europe six years ago is now becoming prevalent, she added.
