Culture and Innovation Ministry adds new state secretariat

The government has decided to expand the Ministry of Culture and Innovation with a new state secretariat for cultural relations from June 15, and has appointed Anita Kiss-Hegyi to head it.

New state secretariat

The new secretariat is tasked with strengthening the domestic and international network of culture represented by Hungarian artists and supporting the relationship-building and community-forming power of Hungarian culture, according to a ministry statement issued late on Friday.

A key goal is to further expand the presence of Hungarian art both at home and abroad, and for the tools of cultural diplomacy to support Hungarian cultural presence in an up-to-date and targeted manner, it added.

Kiss-Hegyi has worked in many areas of the domestic and international cultural scene over the past decade and has deep experience in cultural diplomacy, the ministry said.

The state secretariat for culture will continue to operate within the ministry in parallel with the new secretariat, and will be responsible for preserving the traditions of Hungarian culture in the Carpathian Basin, nurturing cultural heritage and managing the cultural institutional system, it added.
