Csikszentmihalyi presented Hungarian state award in LA

Budapest, December 7 (MTI) – Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, a psychology professor whose work has gained international recognition, was presented the Hungarian Order of Merit Grand Cross by Human Resources Minister Zoltan Balog in Los Angeles on Saturday.
Balog noted that the 80-year-old Csikszentmihalyi, best known for his theory of “flow”, was born in 1934, in Trieste, while his father was the Hungarian chief consul there.
“Although he only lived for a few months in Hungary, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi remained true to his Hungarian roots and regained his Hungarian citizenship,” Balog said. “I’ve brought a Hungarian passport for him, too, which has made him at least as happy as the grand cross,” he added.
Balog will meet with the heads of local Hungarian communities in Los Angeles on Sunday.
