Celebrating 2583rd birth anniversary of Gautama Buddha – webinar soon

Embassy of India in Hungary in partnership with leading Buddhism academic institution, Dharma Gate Buddhist College, Budapest is celebrating the birth anniversary of Lord Buddha on 26th May from 16:30 hours online. It is believed that Gautam Buddha gained his enlightenment on this day. The programme comprises speeches, talks, film clips, meditation, chants and vaisakh programme live.

 The opening address will be by H.E. Ambassador,Sri Kumar Tuhin, followed by  welcome adress from Mr áabor Karsai, Rector, Dharma Gate Buddhist College. Melinda Földiné Irtl from Dharma Gate Buddhist College would chant the significant mantra ’ Buddham Sharnam Gachhami’ to mark the occasion.    

At 5 pm there will be a talk by  Mr. Sri S. R.Bhatt, Philosopher, Sanskritist, Member of Academic Council, Nalanda University, He is internationally known as an authority on Ancient Indian culture, Buddhism, Jainism and Vedanta. He is a member of many national and international associations, At present he is National Fellow of Indian Council of Social Science Research, Ministry of HRD, Government of India. After the speech a  Clip from the film ’Story of Buddhism’ will be shown giving an insight into the origin of Buddhism.

Followed by a talk by the director of the film, Benoy K.Behl. Mr. Behl has taken over 53,000 photographs of Asian monuments and art heritage and made 145 documentaries which are regularly screened at major cultural institutions worldwide. The vastness of Behl’s documentation presents a wide and new perspective in understanding the art of India and Asia. This part of the programme will conclude with  sacred mantras,meditation and chanting  by Zoltán Cser, Director, Dharma Gate Buddhist .

Part two of the the program by Dharma Gate Buddhist Church  will be  the Vesakh Ceremony, in Hungarian, with English translation which will be conclude by 7.45 pm.
