Hungarian Cardinal Péter Erdő about the next Holy Father’s task

The next pontiff and the Catholic Church “will need to complete their mission in a dramatic era of human history”, Hungary’s Cardinal Péter Erdő said in his sermon at Rome’s Santa Francesca Romana Basilica on Sunday.
Referring to the upcoming conclave, the cardinal said it was a “significant moment” and noted the church’s crucial role “in knowing Christ and keeping contact with Him”. He also said Christian tradition was “keeping the fire alive rather than an adoration of the ash”.
Erdő called on believers to pray for the conclave and the would-be pope.
