Budapest Is The World’s 135th Most Expensive Place
Mercer consulting company created a list of the most expensive cities, index.hu reports.
The interesting is that Mercer examined how much the living costs for a foreigner in a particular city, so the on the top of the list are Luanda, capital of Angola and N’Djamena, capital of Chad. The third is Hong Kong.
According to index.hu, the list focuses on the prices of the goods and services, which are necessary for everyday life. After that, they checked how the local circumstances influence these. So it turned out that lower public safety, fluctuating exchange rates and uncertain public supplies cost more money than living in an expansive, but stable city.
Budapest is 135th on the list, moving forward 5 places. Before us is Havana, after us is Ho Chi Minh City. Among the top ten are Singapore, Zurich, Geneva, Tokyo, Bern, Moscow and Shanghai. Vienna is the 32nd, Bratislava is the 84th, Prague is the 92nd, Bucharest is the 159th, Beograd is the 184th and Liubiana is the 116th, index.hu says.
