Budapest district to be the first one supporting LGBTQ community
Tamás Soproni, the mayor of District 6 (Terézváros), announced that being supportive of the LGBTQ community is something every country and city should do. The Hungarian mayor would like to display the flag of the community on the townhouse of the district and would like to fight for the rights of the community.

24 reported that from this September on, same-sex couples who would like to get married (civil union ceremony) can get the ‘jegyescsomag‘ service for the first time. This service means that the local districts provide gifts for newlyweds after the wedding, showing their support and wishing all the best and good health for the upcoming years. Soproni announced that, just like heterosexual couples, LGBTQ people also want someone to grow old with and should have the chance to get married and to receive a gift from the city.
According to Soproni, it is still outrageous to read and hear all the hate speech towards the community, and society needs to change immediately.
The mayor is eager for change and proud of his decision. In the future, he would like to transform the district and the city into a place where being a member of the LGBTQ community does not mean being harassed by people. Soproni hopes that many will agree with his decision, join the movement, and show their support.

ECHR: Hungary should allow gender and name change for Hungarians and non-Hungarians
The European Court of Human Rights has ended a five-year-long debate after stating that Hungary should allow both Hungarian and non-Hungarian citizens the rights to legally approve their gender and the name-changing procedure involved. The decision came two days after the Hungarian Government denied the rights of transgender people in the country.
