British pharmaceutical company to upgrade plant in Hungary

Budapest, March 13 (MTI) – British pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is to upgrade its plant in GödöllÅ‘ near Budapest to produce vaccine components, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó and plant director Cristopher Hunley told a press briefing on Monday.

The new investment project is to cater for growing demands in vaccines worldwide and will create 104 new jobs, Szijjártó said.

As Britain is Hungary’s seventh largest investor, a “fair Brexit” is in Hungary’s best interest, Szijjártó said. Although Britain’s decision to quit the European Union is “regrettable”, Hungary respects the British people’s “exclusive right to decide over their country’s fate”, he added.

The best possible trade relations are also a way “to ensure the rights of EU citizens living and working in the United Kingdom”, the minister said.
