Base wage of health-care professionals up 14 pc from January
Health-care professionals will receive a 14 percent increase in base wages from January, the state secretary in charge of health care said on Tuesday.
The increase is part of a multi-step wage growth scheme that began in 2016, Ildikó Horváth told a press conference.
It scheme demonstrates the government’s dedication to expressing an appreciation for workers in health care and to retaining them, she added.
- Labour shortage – 6 surgeons resigned out of the total 7 at a Budapest hospital!
- Labour shortage in Hungary – Lack of doctors, nurses, engineers and blue-collar workers
In addition to wage increases, improvements will be made to the working environment and accommodation of health-care employees, such as building new hostels for nurses, she said.
The increase from January will affect 81,000 professionals and 4,000 pediatric nurses and it will be financed from 82 billion forints (EUR 248m), she added.
