Authorities Find Bluetongue Cases in Hungary

Budpaest, October 14 (MTI) – Hungary’s food safety authority Nebih on Tuesday said it had found the presence of bluetongue, a viral disease of ruminants, on two small farms in the south of Csongrad County, in south-east Hungary.

Nebih said a ban on the movement of animals had been placed in a 20km area around the farms.

The authority stepped up its monitoring and protection measures against bluetongue in September after an outbreak in southern Europe
