Hungarian Football Federation will vote for Ceferin as new UEFA President

The Hungarian Football Federation (MLSZ) views all three UEFA presidential candidates as suitable for the position but sees the Slovenian FA president as the best long-term solution.
The Extraordinary UEFA Congress on 14th September has been necessitated by Michael Platini’s resignation and will provide the occasion during which member countries will vote for his successor as UEFA president. Presidents of three member countries have applied for the post: Angel Maria Villar Llona of Spain who is also the current first vice-president; Michael van Praag of the Netherlands and Slovenia’s Aleksander Ceferin.
Over the last week, a period which included a meeting with all three candidates in Budapest, MLSZ’s leadership has become certain that all three candidates would suit the position of president. Bearing in mind the strategic tasks in front of UEFA, MLSZ holds it as necessary that as well as being well-prepared enough to be a leader in this industry, they will be capable of filling this position for a long period of time. Taking all this into account, MLSZ will be supporting Aleksander Ceferin as their preferred UEFA presidential candidate at the UEFA Congress in Athens this month.

Regardless of the result of the election, MLSZ expects the new UEFA president to prioritise the quality of football’s professional level and to safeguard and nurture the significance of its social and financial activities, as well as to strengthen the transparency of UEFA’s operations and to support the work of its member associations to an even greater extent.
