EP elections – Vote Will Decide If Wages Catch Up, Says LMP Co-Chair

Budapest, May 25 (MTI) – The European parliamentary elections will decide whether Hungarian wages catch up and whether Hungarian workers get more protection, the co-chair of green party LMP said on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters after casting his ballot in central Budapest, Andras Schiffer said the country’s environmental safety as well as its protection against financial speculators and the defence of its stand in the area of European Union common agriculture policy were at stake in the EP election.
He said Hungarian voters should not send representatives to Strasbourg who back the interests of big companies or leading powers, adding that LMP’s party list was no “scam”, but comprised people who would start their work immediately.
He expressed a bit of disappointment at the low voter turnout in comparison with the national election.
