A unique attraction has arrived in the heart of bustling Budapest: a life-size LEGO F1 car is now on display at the Allee Shopping Center. Open to the public for free from 25 July through 5 August, the exhibition offers an engaging experience not just for motorsport and LEGO fans, but also for families and tech enthusiasts. Blurring the lines between reality and play, the extraordinary vehicle is part of an exciting new partnership that brought it to Budapest.

The centerpiece of the installation is a meticulously crafted LEGO Mercedes-AMG F1 W15 model built from nearly 400,000 LEGO bricks. Weighing over 1,500 kilograms, this build isn’t just a static display—it can actually drive at speeds of up to 12 mph. According to Blikk, the car was assembled at the LEGO Group’s factory in Kladno, Czech Republic, where 26 experts—including designers, engineers, and builders—dedicated over 22,000 hours to bring the model to life.

The level of detail is astonishing: the car features authentic sponsor decals and real Pirelli Formula 1 tires. This is not just a model, but a stunning feat of creative and engineering ingenuity, showcasing what’s possible when human imagination meets LEGO bricks.

More than just a display: Straight from the race track

What makes this exhibition even more remarkable is that the LEGO car isn’t just a lifelike replica—it actually participated in a real Formula 1 event: the driver parade at the 2025 Miami Grand Prix. The vehicle was driven by George Russell and the promising rookie Andrea Kimi Antonelli. Still bearing the marks of that race day, the car remains in its original post-parade condition, offering visitors a rare, up-close glimpse at a piece of motorsport history. It’s the first time the LEGO Mercedes F1 car has been showcased in this form in the Hungarian capital. The installation is part of the LEGO x Formula 1 collaboration, launched in 2025 to bring the excitement of racing and engineering creativity to the public in a playful new way.

Special events for F1 fans

The exhibition goes beyond visual spectacle—organisers have planned extra activities, especially during the two peak weekends: 25–27 July and 1–3 August. According to the official LEGO website, visitors can take part in interactive programs that bring the world of Formula 1 even closer:

• F1 Reflex Challenge – Test your reaction time and see how you stack up against George Russell.
• LEGO F1 Car-Building Station – Build your own racecar to take home, completely free.
• Building Contest for Kids and Adults – Put your creativity to the test and compete with others.
• RC F1 Car Track – Try your hand at remote-controlled racing and enjoy mini-races full of excitement.

This initiative aims to do more than entertain: LEGO and Formula 1 share a goal to spark interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) fields among younger generations through playful experiences. Meanwhile, LEGO stores in Budapest (Allee, Árkád, Westend) are joining the celebration—offering 20% off all F1 Speed Champions and LEGO Technic products during the featured period.
