Attention: Hungary eases weekend lorry ban to protect goods amid summer heat

Hungary is temporarily easing its weekend lorry ban this weekend to help protect cargo from heat-related damage, the Ministry of Construction and Transportation announced.
Hungary eases lorry ban
The usual ban, in effect from Saturday 3:00 PM to Sunday 10:00 PM, will now be suspended between 10:00 PM Saturday and 6:00 AM Sunday, allowing trucks to travel during the cooler night hours. The decision was made following requests from domestic freight companies concerned about perishable and temperature-sensitive goods.
The ministry emphasised that the change aims to preserve product quality and prevent logistical delays during the summer heatwave.
Bulgaria tightens restrictions
Meanwhile, according to Trans.Info, Bulgaria is tightening restrictions due to extreme temperatures. Trucks over 20 tons are banned from certain roads between 1:00 PM and 9:00 PM on both Saturday and Sunday in several regions. Exceptions apply to vehicles transporting perishable goods, hazardous materials, or human remains.
Drivers in both countries are advised to plan ahead as high temperatures continue to affect freight transport across the region.
