Hungarian military helicopters sent to Albania for help

The Hungarian military has sent two helicopters to Albania to help fight wildfires in the Llogara national park, the defence minister said on Wednesday.

According to a statement by the defence ministry, Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky said Albania had asked for help through the European Union’s emergency coordination centre (ERCC).

The statement noted that the Hungarian military had participated in similar missions in recent years, with special regard to fires in North Macedonia and in southern Hungary’s Vas County. Hungarian helicopters also rescued children injured in floods in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the statement added.
