Hungarian father and 10-year-old daughter swept out to sea in Greece – Dramatic rescue caught on video
A Hungarian father and his 10-year-old daughter were dramatically rescued after being swept away by strong sea currents off the coast of Epanomi, Greece. The heart-stopping incident was captured on video and has since gone viral on social media.
Caught in the currents
The tourists found themselves in serious danger when the sea’s powerful currents pulled them far from the shore. Fortunately, two athletes out kite surfing in the area noticed the pair struggling in deep water, Greek ProtoThema reported. One of them immediately rushed to their aid, offering his board for them to hold onto until help arrived.
In the video, the father and daughter can be heard speaking Hungarian as they cling to the board, visibly exhausted and frightened.
A joint rescue operation
According to Greek media, the two athletes were the first to act. Shortly after, a local hunting club boat, alerted by the coastguard, joined the rescue, followed by the police, ambulance, and coastguard teams. Thanks to the quick and coordinated efforts, the father and daughter were safely brought to shore with no serious injuries.
“My hero spotted and rescued a tourist father and his 10-year-old daughter,” the rescuer’s proud father posted on Facebook along with the video, which has received widespread attention.
