Hungarian State Railways (MÁV) will no longer operate Western Hungary railway lines

Regional railway company GYSEV has signed a contract to take over the operation of 752km of rail lines in the west of Hungary from MÁV starting July 1, MÁV group said on Tuesday.
The takeover will not require any action from passengers: the same trains will run as earlier and fares, relative to distance, will be no higher than on services operated by MÁV.
Before the contract was signed, GYSEV operated 443km of rail lines in the west of the country.

GYSEV is the only basically privately owned company servicing passengers on the Hungarian railway network.
